Tree removal

We work hard to keep trees healthy and thriving. But there are times when the best course of action is to remove trees that:

    • Are in poor health
  • Have been damaged in storms
  • Are growing in inappropriate locations
  • Pose a hazard to people or property

At Abbott, we’ll help you decide which trees to keep and when trees should be removed. We completely remove trees to within 6” of ground level, cutting the stump as low to the ground as possible. We can haul away and dispose of all debris, but we’ll also cut wood and leave it for firewood or turn it into wood chips at the customer’s request.

With our own cranes, aerial buckets and log loaders, we’re efficient and safe. We’ll get the job done right—without damaging adjacent homes, garages, fences, decks, or even other landscaping.

Stump removal

We grind stumps to 6” to 12” below ground level, not including feeder roots, leaving plenty of room for new topsoil and grass or other groundcover. In addition, you’ll keep the chips for use as mulch.

Tree and shrub pruning

Pruning is the most common tree and shrub maintenance practice. It involves carefully removing dead, damaged, diseased or otherwise unwanted tree branches.

Proper pruning of trees will add to their aesthetic value, improve their strength and maintain their safety.

It’s important that pruning be done properly – improper pruning can cause irreparable damage, create hazards and even shorten a tree’s life.

Maintenance pruning

Regular maintenance pruning helps improve a tree’s health and structure by removing branches that are dead, diseased, decayed, or weak, as well as those that obstruct or interfere with people and property. We also prune for aesthetics, ensuring the ongoing beauty of any tree to the property owner’s satisfaction.

Hazard pruning

Hazard pruning can reduce the safety hazards many trees present from branches that areDead, Diseased, Decayed, or Weak. At Abbott, we provide a full range of hazard pruning services, including: Crown cleaning, Crown thinning, Custom pruning, Crown raising, Crown reduction or crown shaping and crown restoration.

At Abbott, we know your trees are only part of your landscaping. That’s why we provide pest and disease management for all the plants in your landscaping. We spray for bugs with today’s best and safest pesticides.

Cabling & Bracing

Cabling and bracing are ways to hold your tree together so it doesn’t drop large branches or split apart.

We use cables to support branches so they won’t move around as much and they will be less likely to break during a storm. The cables are attached to the tree using bolts installed through the branches.

Bracing involves installing a long threaded rod through several branches or stems where they’re weak and likely to split. The rod gives more support than a cable and limits the degree of twisting that can happen during violent weather.
